Is CarPlay/Bluetooth not working (properly) after iOS 18.4? Here's how to fix it step by step
Why CarPlay Can Suddenly Become Unstable
Since iOS 18.4, users have been reporting unstable (wireless) CarPlay connections more frequently: reconnecting, dropping out, and “stuck loading.”
Quick Step-by-Step Guide (most effective → least effective)
1) Remove your car from CarPlay and pair it again
- Settings → General → CarPlay → select your car →Forget this car
- Then reconnect (preferably using a cable first)
Many people solve the problem this way (sometimes it takes a few tries).
2) Check out the 3 must-haves for wireless CarPlay:
In practice, wireless CarPlay usesBluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Make sure Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and “auto-connect” are turned on.
3) Turn "Bluetooth" off and on again + the airplane mode trick
- Airplane Mode On (10 sec)
- Airplane Mode Off
- Bluetooth on → reconnect
4) Reset network settings (often the real solution)
Settings → General → Transfer or Reset →Reset → Reset Network Settings.
Note: Your Wi-Fi networks and passwords will be deleted. (But CarPlay issues often go away.)
5) Update iOS and your car's infotainment system
It sounds like a no-brainer, but firmware updates on the car's end can sometimes really help.
Bonus tip: If CarPlay “keeps running” (loading)
Try one trip usingwired CarPlay. If that works reliably, the problem is usually with the wireless handshake (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth), and step 4 almost always works.
